Ozzy Trapilo could return sooner than expected for Bears

Chicago Bears offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo could be ahead of schedule in his recovery from the torn patellar tendon he suffered during last season's wild-card round. Trapilo started six regular-season games at left tackle in 2025 before the injury ended his postseason, and there had been uncertainty about how much of the 2026 season he could miss. A quicker-than-expected return would add another intriguing option to an unsettled left tackle competition. Braxton Jones, Jedrick Wills Jr., and Kiran Amegadjie are currently battling for the starting job opposite Darnell Wright. Trapilo may not factor into the competition immediately, but if his recovery continues trending in the right direction, the Bears could eventually have another legitimate option protecting Caleb Williams' blind side.
