Rome Odunze offers encouraging update on Luther Burden's recovery
The Chicago Bears continue to wait for Luther Burden III to return from the groin injury that has sidelined him during training camp, but Rome Odunze offered an encouraging update on his fellow receiver. "We definitely miss Lu out there," Odunze said. "I know his recovery is going well, so excited to get him back out there." Burden's absence has been noticeable as the Bears continue preparing their offense for the regular season. The second-year receiver is expected to play a significantly larger role in Ben Johnson's offense after flashing big-play ability as a rookie. The Bears have been hopeful Burden will be available for the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. Odunze's comments don't provide a specific timetable, but hearing that his recovery is progressing well is another positive sign. For now, Chicago has every reason to be cautious. Getting Burden healthy for Week 1 matters considerably more than getting him back on the practice field a few days early.
