Darnell Wright signs four-year, $116 million extension with Bears
The Chicago Bears have secured one of the cornerstones of their franchise, agreeing to a four-year, $116 million contract extension with All-Pro right tackle Darnell Wright. According to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport and Jeremy Fowler, the deal includes a staggering $93 million in guaranteed money and makes Wright one of the highest-paid offensive tackles in the NFL. The former first-round pick has developed into one of the league’s premier right tackles since being selected 10th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, emerging as a dominant force in both pass protection and the running game. The extension continues general manager Ryan Poles’ commitment to building around Caleb Williams with a strong offensive line and ensures one of Chicago’s most important young players remains under contract through the prime of his career. Wright had previously said he wasn’t concerned about the timing of a new deal, expressing confidence that he would be “on the Bears for a long time.” That prediction has now become reality.
