Ben Johnson reveals what has impressed him most about Colston Loveland
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson believes Colston Loveland's biggest strength may be his approach to learning the game. Johnson said the second-year tight end has already developed a strong understanding of nearly every position in the offense and is constantly looking for ways to expand his football knowledge. According to Johnson, Loveland studies wide receiver route concepts, takes detailed notes during meetings, and even asks questions in special teams sessions despite not being expected to play on those units. Johnson described Loveland as "a sponge." For a Bears offense expected to feature Loveland prominently in 2026, Johnson's comments suggest the 2025 first-round pick is developing just as quickly mentally as he is physically, an encouraging sign for one of Chicago's most important young playmakers.
