Cole Kmet sees big things ahead for Bears rookie Dillon Thieneman

Dillon Thieneman’s development throughout training camp hasn’t gone unnoticed by Bears veteran Cole Kmet. Kmet acknowledged that the rookie safety initially played with some hesitation as he adjusted to the NFL, but he’s seen significant progress since. “He’s been more physical in the run game,” Kmet said. “A lot of these kids come in super talented, but this NFL game is so different than college. It’s been cool to see him grow each and every week, and I know he’s going to help us out big time this year.” That’s significant praise for Thieneman, who has been thrust into a more important role following Coby Bryant’s knee injury. His growth in coverage and increased physicality could make him an important piece of the Bears’ secondary sooner than originally expected.
