Tyson Bagent will start Bears' preseason opener

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent will start Saturday's preseason opener, coach Ben Johnson confirmed Thursday. Bagent is also expected to play most, if not all, of the first half as the Bears get an extended look at their backup quarterback. The decision means Caleb Williams won't open the game under center, while Bagent gets valuable live reps running Johnson's offense. With the regular season approaching, Saturday will give Bagent an opportunity to strengthen his grip on the QB2 job and show he's prepared if Chicago needs him behind Williams.
