Bears see Caleb Williams making daily progress, but preseason decision remains open
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams continues to make progress in his second season running Ben Johnson's offense, according to passing game coordinator Press Taylor. "He's getting closer every day to improving in his mastery of the system," Taylor said. "I don't know if he's ever going to get there, I don't know that anybody ever will. We as coaches continue to learn more about the system and where it can go." Williams didn't play in Chicago's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns, and Taylor made it clear the Bears haven't decided whether that will change over the final two exhibition games. "If we get good work and are confident, then maybe they won't play," Taylor said. "If we want to see a little bit more, we reserve the right to make that decision when the time comes."
