Bears have obvious plan to help Case Keenum vs. Eagles

Philadelphia has allowed 254 rushing yards through its first two games, and the Eagles know exactly what Chicago's backfield is capable of doing to them. The Bears rushed for 281 yards in their 24-15 victory at Philadelphia last November, with Monangai rushing for 130 yards and Swift adding 125.

Now Chicago gets another shot at that defense with both running backs ready to roll.

Kyle Monangai is officially good to go

Monangai created some concern when he appeared on the injury report with a knee issue earlier this week. That's no longer an issue.

Monangai practiced fully Friday and Saturday and carries no injury designation into Monday night's game.

Keenum can breathe a sigh of relief.

The Bears don't need to hide the veteran QB, but they also don't need to make a 38-year-old quarterback who hasn't thrown a regular-season pass since 2023 the centerpiece of the offense. Having Monangai at full strength helps that cause.

Eagles know what's coming

The Eagles know that stopping Chicago's running game is one of the primary storylines entering Monday night.

And that's why this game should be so fun to watch. There isn't much deception involved. The Eagles know the Bears want to run. The Bears know Philadelphia will load up to stop it.

Now Swift, Monangai, and the Bears' offensive line have to prove it can run anyway.

If Swift and Monangai can consistently keep Keenum out of third-and-long, the Bears have a realistic formula for surviving their first game without Williams. If they can't, Keenum will have to beat Vic Fangio's defense himself.

And that's exactly the game Philadelphia wants.
