The Chicago Bears appear to be getting closer to welcoming Caleb Williams back to the starting lineup, and the latest development surrounding their franchise quarterback is another encouraging sign ahead of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

According to ALLCHGO's Adam Jahns, the Bears plan to make Williams available to reporters following Thursday's practice.

While the decision to have Williams speak with the media doesn't officially confirm he'll start against Atlanta, it adds to growing optimism about his availability.

Caleb Williams moving closer to Week 6 return

Williams' potential return has been one of the biggest storylines surrounding the Bears this week.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reported that Williams would be listed as a full participant on Chicago's estimated injury report.

The Bears held a walkthrough, so the designation wasn't based on a typical full-speed practice.

Thursday, however, represents the first regular practice of the week, making it a more meaningful test of Williams' recovery.

And now, with the team planning to make him available to reporters afterward, there's another reason to believe his return could be approaching.

Still, the Bears haven't officially named Williams as their Week 6 starter.

Bears desperately need Williams back

Chicago enters Sunday's matchup against Atlanta with a 3-2 record following an ugly 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Bears' offense struggled throughout that game, committing five turnovers as Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum failed to generate any offense.

Williams has missed Chicago's last three games, and his absence has become increasingly noticeable.

Of course, the Bears want to be certain Williams' hamstring is healthy enough to withstand the demands of an NFL game before putting him back on the field. For now, Thursday's practice and Williams' expected media availability represent two developments worth watching.
