The Chicago Bears have made their decision at quarterback.
Case Keenum will start Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer.
The decision comes even though Tyson Bagent has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and will be available to play.
According to Glazer, the Bears are sticking with Keenum because Bagent missed too much of the team's preparation and game-planning work while progressing through the concussion protocol. Bagent is expected to serve as Keenum's backup.
That ends several days of uncertainty surrounding Chicago's quarterback situation.
Caleb Williams has already been ruled out because of the hamstring injury he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings. Bagent entered concussion protocol after replacing Williams in that game, leaving Keenum to handle the first-team offense throughout most of the practice week.
Bagent returned to practice Saturday without limitations, and Bears coach Ben Johnson left open the possibility that he could start if medically cleared.
Instead, Chicago will stick with the quarterback who spent the week preparing to face Philadelphia.
Case Keenum gets his first Bears start
Keenum, 38, has not appeared in a regular-season game since 2023.
The veteran has made 66 career starts during a 14-year NFL career, but he entered this season as Chicago's No. 3 quarterback behind Williams and Bagent.
Now he'll be under center on Monday Night Football.
The good news for Chicago is that Bagent gives Johnson a legitimate alternative if needed. Earlier in the week, the Bears faced the possibility of Keenum starting with practice-squad rookie Miller Moss as his primary backup. That's no longer the case.
For now, however, the offense belongs to Keenum. Chicago will turn to its veteran quarterback as the Bears attempt to improve to 2-1 without Williams.
