Kaden Davis continues to make a serious push for a spot on the Chicago Bears' 53-man roster, and offensive coordinator Press Taylor made it clear the wide receiver's increased opportunities aren't happening by accident.

Davis has consistently produced when given a chance throughout training camp and carried that momentum into Chicago's preseason win over the Cleveland Browns.

"He's done a great job," Taylor said. "He continues to produce with the opportunities he's been given. You've got to put wins on tape."

That's exactly what Davis has been doing.

Kaden Davis keeps making his case for Bears roster spot

Davis was one of Chicago's most productive offensive players against Cleveland, catching four passes for 88 yards. He also earned a 72.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, seventh-highest among Bears offensive players.

But Taylor's evaluation went beyond the receiving numbers.

"He had a contested catch on the sideline over there," Taylor said. "He had a couple other plays. He did a good job blocking."

Taylor specifically highlighted a third-down run by Roschon Johnson when Davis got to the safety and delivered a block that helped spring one of Chicago's biggest runs of the day.

That's important for a receiver fighting for one of the final roster spots.

Davis isn't going to make this team simply because he can catch passes against preseason competition. The Bears need their reserve receivers to contribute without the football and potentially provide value on special teams.

The more Davis can put those types of plays on film, the more difficult he becomes to cut.

"He put a lot of good things on tape, and he's continued to do that," Taylor said. "So that's really all you can ask for from those guys. They make the most of their opportunities, and he's continued to do that."

Bears are rewarding Kaden Davis for his production

Perhaps the most significant part of Taylor's comments came at the end.

"I think that's why you see more and more opportunities go his way," Taylor said.

The Bears have a crowded receiver room, and the competition for the final roster spots remains unsettled. Davis doesn't have the security of some of the bigger names on the depth chart, which means every rep matters.

So far, he's doing exactly what a roster-bubble player needs to do: force the coaching staff to give him another one. His performance against Cleveland strengthened his case.
