Chicago Bears fans aren't accustomed to having a quarterback capable of carrying an offense every Sunday.
Caleb Williams may not have fully reached superstar status yet, but after his electrifying 2025 campaign, it's becoming increasingly difficult to argue he isn't on that trajectory.
Yes, there's still room for growth.
Williams' week-to-week consistency and overall accuracy remain areas he can improve. But when the stakes were highest, few quarterbacks in the NFL made bigger plays.
His game-winning touchdown pass against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round instantly became one of the greatest postseason throws in franchise history.
One week later, he nearly topped it.
Williams delivered another jaw-dropping play against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, nearly willing Chicago to an improbable comeback and a trip to the NFC Championship Game.
Those are the kinds of moments that separate good quarterbacks from franchise-changing stars.
And they're why some national analysts believe Williams could take another leap in 2026.
Speaking on ESPN's First Take, NFL insider Peter Schrager said he expects the Bears quarterback to enter the league's MVP conversation this season.
"I expect Caleb to be in the MVP conversation," Shrager said. "I love his game. And if he does the little things, which he did a lot of last year, and that was the criticism. Going in. Why not? The sky is the limit for Chicago guys. I really am high on them right now. And I know it's late July, but that's okay because last year, again, no one had Seattle going this far, and they were hoisting the Lombardi at the end of the year."
Bears veterans report to Halas Hall today, with the first full training camp practice scheduled for Wednesday, July 29. Every snap from here forward will be another step in determining whether Williams can turn immense potential into legitimate MVP consideration.
