The Chicago Bears were missing their veteran starter at running back last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, but the ground game still didn't miss a beat.

Even with D'Andre Swift out of the lineup due to injury, rookie Kyle Monangai stepped up in a huge way, racking up over 150 yards on the ground. His performance helped the Bears score a dramatic win in the final moments.

Swift himself had some high praise for his new teammate this week:

When healthy, Swift has provided big numbers of his own so far this season. That said, durability has always been the primary concern with him.

That's why Monangai could be incredibly valuable to the Bears, if he's able to sustain that kind of production when he's on the field. Whether Swift is healthy or not, Monangai is clearly capable of handling a full workload on his own.

If both backs are healthy, the Bears could have a dominant ground game that wears opposing defenses down in the fourth quarter.

We'll see if that's the case this week against the New York Giants.
