If there's one move that GM Ryan Poles made this offseason that's undoubtedly worked out, it's the signing of running back D'Andre Swift. Despite a slow start to the season, Swift has found his groove as a big-play runner who's contributing yards in chunks on the ground and through the air.
Swift has carried the ball 155 times for 635 yards and five touchdowns this year and has become a critical piece to the Bears' offensive attack, which makes the team's latest injury update... not great.
Swift missed practice on Wednesday with a groin injury, and his status for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings is unknown.
Second-year running back Roschon Johnson will get the start if Swift can't go. Johnson has 46 carries for 137 yards and five touchdowns this year in his somewhat limited role as a short-yardage and goalline back. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with an expanded role, he runs with a more punishing style than Swift, which may actually be what the Chicago Bears need against an aggressive and hard-hitting Vikings defense.
