The Chicago Bears named eight players as team captains for the 2024 NFL season. Both sides of the ball have four players donning the "C" on their uniform this season.
Here are the Bears' captains this season as voted on by their teammates: QB Caleb Williams, WR DJ Moore, TE Cole Kmet, TE Marcedes Lewis, LB Tremaine Edmunds, SAF Kevin Byard, LB TJ Edwards, and CB Jaylon Johnson.
Seeing Williams as one of the eight captains is a pleasant surprise. Maybe it shouldn't be shocking that the first overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft and the team's starting quarterback is one of the four captains on offense, but if the locker room had any concerns with his approach to the team or the game in general, there's no way he would've earned the votes. We're a long way from the incredibly dumb pre-draft narrative that suggested Caleb Williams would be a distraction in the locker room. Instead, he's proven to be one of the most team-first guys who's already garnered the respect of his peers.
It's the first time a Bears rookie quarterback has been named a team captain.
With less than one week to go before the Chicago Bears take on the Tennessee Titans in the 2024 NFL season opener, Williams will soon have a chance to garner the respect of the rest of the league as he embarks on his journey to become an all-time great for the Bears.
