One play doesn’t define a career, but man, a lot can be learned about a player’s upside from a magical rep.

For Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, this indescribable pass to Keenan Allen during Thursday’s training camp practice is that rep.

Williams rolls to his left, spots Allen along the sideline, and does his best “Air Jordan” leap and throw that hits its mark like a sharp-shooting sniper.

Bears fans have dreamed of a day when a quarterback with a magical skill set would don their colors. They have that guy in Caleb Williams. And before I get flamed with comments about practice being meaningless, let me say this: I get it, but this rep is… different.

There aren’t many quarterbacks in the NFL who could make that throw on that field, in that practice setting, the way Williams did. Real game or not, preseason or regular season, it doesn’t matter. That pass was a display or rare ability that doesn’t come along too often.

The Chicago Bears were the lucky winners of the Williams sweepstakes. Enjoy, Bears fans. You deserve it.
