The Chicago Bears' offensive line has been one of the team's biggest strengths in 2026, but Sunday's ugly loss to the Green Bay Packers has taken some of the shine off a unit that had been among the NFL's best.
In Pro Football Focus' latest offensive line rankings, the Bears dropped two spots to No. 4 overall after previously ranking second.
Look, the Bears have had much worse offensive line issues than being ranked top five. But the reason behind the drop is worth examining.
Darnell Wright struggles after outstanding start
According to PFF analyst Gordon McGuinness, right tackle Darnell Wright's struggles against Green Bay played a big role in Chicago's dip.
Wright earned a 60.5 overall PFF grade against the Packers after posting grades above 80.0 in each of the Bears' first four games.
Even more concerning was the pressure he surrendered.

Wright allowed just four quarterback pressures during Weeks 1 through 3. Against Green Bay, he gave up six pressures on 49 pass-blocking snaps. For a player who has established himself as one of Chicago's most dependable offensive linemen, it was a really bad day.
The good news? One poor game doesn't erase Wright's excellent start. In fact, PFF's rankings also note that Wright's season-long run-blocking grade trails only Detroit Lions tackle Penei Sewell among NFL offensive linemen.
Bears remain among NFL's best offensive lines
Despite the drop, Chicago's No. 4 ranking still deserves praise.
The Bears trail only the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos.
As a refresher, the Bears' starting five is:
LT: Theo Benedet
LG: Joe Thuney
RG: Jonah Jackson
RT: Darnell Wright
Thuney and Wright are two of the most-respected offensive linemen in the league. Jackson is quickly returning to that tier as well. Bradbury has been an adequate replacement for Drew Dalman through the first five games, and Ozzy Trapilo should soon settle the left tackle position.
The Bears have invested heavily in protecting Caleb Williams, and the early returns suggest that investment continues to pay off.
And let's not forget how important Williams is to the offensive line's optics. His escapability helps limit the number of sacks the starting five surrenders.
A chance to bounce back against Atlanta
The Bears travel to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, looking to improve their 3-2 record.
A stronger performance from Wright and the rest of the offensive line would go a long way toward helping Chicago's offense get back on track.
For now, the Bears remain a top-five team in PFF's offensive line rankings, and that's a really good thing. But after what happened against Green Bay, Chicago can't assume the o-line is a finished product. It mus play like one of the NFL's best again.
