The Chicago Bears are dealing with another wave of injuries as they prepare for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, with the availability of three defensive players uncertain.
According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, Bears coach Ben Johnson provided updates Wednesday on defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo, linebacker T.J. Edwards, and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
Odeyingbo is expected to miss time with a quadriceps injury, while Edwards is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Stevenson, meanwhile, is day-to-day.
Dayo Odeyingbo injury adds to Bears' pass-rush concerns
The most concerning development involves Odeyingbo, who is expected to miss time because of his quad injury.
Johnson indicated that the injury likely won't require a stint on injured reserve. However, the expectation that he'll miss time creates a massive problem for Chicago's defensive front.
The Bears are already preparing to play without Montez Sweat, who was suspended for two games for violating the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy. Losing Odeyingbo at the same time leaves Chicago extremely thin at defensive end.

T.J. Edwards remains week-to-week
Edwards is also dealing with an injury that could keep him out beyond Week 6. Johnson described the linebacker's hamstring injury as week-to-week.
Edwards is a key part of Chicago's starting linebacker corps, and his absence would be a hit to a defense trying to recover from its horrendous performance against Green Bay. And with Falcons running back Bijan Robinson awaiting Chicago in Week 6, the Bears' defense cannot afford to be without Edwards.
Tyrique Stevenson considered day-to-day
Meanwhile, Stevenson is considered day-to-day, leaving open the possibility that he could be available against the Falcons. His practice participation throughout the remainder of the week should provide a clearer indication of his status.
Chicago's secondary struggled badly against Green Bay, allowing quarterback Jordan Love to throw for 367 yards and two touchdowns. And while Stevenson hasn't been great this year, the Bears need all hands on deck right now.
With Sweat suspended, Odeyingbo expected to miss time, and Edwards dealing with a hamstring injury, Chicago's defensive depth is about to face a significant test.
