The Chicago Bears took care of their own business Sunday at Soldier Field. They also received a little help elsewhere in the NFC North.
Chicago's 23-12 victory over the New York Jets improved Ben Johnson's team to 3-1, keeping the Bears one game behind the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. NFL
Here's how the division looks after Week 4:
Minnesota Vikings: 4-0
Chicago Bears: 3-1
Detroit Lions: 2-2
Green Bay Packers: 2-2
Minnesota maintained control of first place with a 15-10 win over Miami. The Vikings remain the NFL's only undefeated NFC North team, and their Week 2 victory over Chicago already gives them an important head-to-head advantage.
But Sunday was still a productive day for the Bears.
Detroit had an opportunity to keep pace but suffered a 32-26 loss to Carolina on Sunday night, dropping the Lions to 2-2. Green Bay narrowly avoided the same fate, beating Tampa Bay 17-14 to also move to 2-2.
That leaves Chicago alone in second place and sets up a massive early-season game next Sunday.

Bears-Packers suddenly carries major NFC North stakes
The Bears travel to Lambeau Field in Week 5 for their first meeting of the season against the Packers.
A Chicago win would put the Bears two games ahead of Green Bay and improve them to 4-1. It would also give Ben Johnson's squad its first divisional victory of 2026 after losing to Minnesota in Week 2.
It's a pretty remarkable position for the Bears to be in, considering Caleb Williams has missed the last two games with his hamstring injury.
Chicago has responded by beating Philadelphia and New York with two different backup quarterbacks, and now the Bears find themselves firmly in the NFC North race entering their first Packers week of 2026.
Things are about to get considerably more interesting.
