Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals continue working to find common ground on a new contract.

NFL superstar pass rusher Trey Hendrickson is in the middle of an ugly contract dispute with the Cincinnati Bengals, one that's gotten so bad that Hendrickson has threatened to sit out a big chunk of the 2025 season if he doesn't get the pay day he feels he deserves.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler provided the latest update on Hendrickson's contract situation during a recent appearance on SportsCenter.

“It’s been a little sticky for sure, but they have resumed talks in recent weeks,” Fowler said. “They have been in communication, that is a good sign. It has not led to a deal as of yet, but Cincinnati’s plan all along has been to sign and extend their three top stars – Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Trey Hendrickson.”

Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024, and he's totaled 35 sacks over the last two seasons. He's scheduled to earn $21 million in 2025, but is seeking a contract that will pay him closer to $40 million per year after the flurry of market-resetting contracts signed by edge rushers recently.

With training camp less than one month away, the Bengals need to get serious about their contract offer to Hendrickson or they'll run the rist of losing the best player from an already shaky defense.
