Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet has the talent and ability to be one of the top players at his position in the NFL. The fifth-year pro is still only 25 years old, and before the last two games -- both Bears losses -- he was on track for a career year.
Kmet entered Week 9's contest against the Arizona Cardinals with 27 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns, a stat line that would remain the same when the final whistle blew in Chicago's horrendous 29-9 defeat.
Kmet had zero catches and not a single yard of offense. He wasn't targeted in the passing game—not once. Yet, he remains the symbol of the team-first mentality trying to be built inside Halas Hall.
"I live by a saying, 'Those who complain about how the ball bounces tend to fumble it comes their way,"" The Bears signed Kmet to a four-year, $50 million deal before the start of the 2023 season, meaning he'll be around for a while. And that's a great thing for this organization that suddenly needs more players with his mentality.
