Chicago Bears legendary wide receiver and kick returner Devin Hester is being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this season. Hester and the rest of the 2024 class will be celebrated with an official enshrinement ceremony on Aug. 3, in Canton, Ohio.
Ahead of that ceremony, which is approximately two weeks from celebration, Hester was gifted his Gold Jacket that comes with his Hall of Fame induction. The Hall of Fame recently shared a video of Hester unboxing his Gold Jacket with his loved ones gathered around him. Right in the feels!
“This is a wild dream that I never imagined,” Hester told Jason Lieser of the Sun-Times. “This is bigger than everything. This is not only a dream, but this is something that I felt as a kid was impossible. That was just too much out of the picture. It’s like hitting the lotto.”
Hester is arguably the greatest return specialist of all time. A three-time First-team All Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection, Hester revolutionized the game as a legitimate threat to score on every return opportunity. The Riviera Beach, Florida native has more punt return touchdowns than anyone in NFL history with 14, and his 20 total non-offensive touchdowns are also the most in league history.
Hester also has the highest average yards per punt return among those with at least 300 returns in NFL history. Despite those accolades, Hester wasn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He waited two years before gaining entrance.
Chicago is slated to face the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 1.
