It marks just the third overseas contest in Bears history. It'll largely be unfamiliar territory for the current Bears squad. The franchise hasn't played outside the United States of America since 2019, a 24-21 defeat to the Oakland Raiders in that same Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Jaguars may hold an obvious and unfair advantage. This will be Jacksonville's 12th overall appearance in London. It's essentially become an annual tradition for Jacksonville.
It's an appetizing matchup that pits Trevor Lawrence, the 2021 No. 1 overall selection, against this yearβs No. 1 pick, Caleb Williams. Lawrence has previously played in four international matchups. When these two top-pick quarterbacks face each other in London, Williams, who's already been named Chicago's starter, will have played in a maximum of five total NFL regular-season games.
As we anxiously await the rest of Chicago's schedule, there's an outstanding chance the Bears will have a Week 7 bye. Teams are typically awarded their bye week following an international contest. Stay tuned to Bears Talk for continued coverage of the 2024 schedule.
