The Chicago Bears will play the Houston Texans in the 2024 Hall of Fame Game. Adam Schefter confirmed the news on Twitter. The contest is scheduled for August 1st at 8 pm Eastern.

The game will be held in Canton, Ohio, its annual location at the nearby Pro Football Hall of Fame. Three former Chicago Bears will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame mere days before the game. Devin Hester, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, and Julius Peppers are slated to receive the honor. Former Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will also be enshrined, hence the matchup between the Bears and Texans.

Equally as interesting, this could mark the debut of the Bears' next starting quarterback. General manager Ryan Poles is expected to draft Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Starters rarely play in the preseason, but the Bears may find it prudent to get Williams some reps against the Texans' backups. Given that the Hall of Fame is particularly special, we'd wager Williams playing a handful of snaps at least.

In addition to Williams, the Hall of Fame Game will represent the first live-action opportunity for the Bears to analyze their rookie class. Sophomores such as Zacch Pickens, Noah Sewell, and Tyler Scott should also receive extended playing time. The calendar has been marked, Bears fans!
