The Chicago Bears are scheduled to host former Auburn cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett on a Top 30 visit in early April, sources confirmed to Bears Talk. The NFC North rival Detroit Lions are also slated to host Pritchett. Pritchett previously visited the Arizona Cardinals.
The 6-foot, 180 pound Pritchett received an invite to this year's Senior Bowl. The Jackson, Alabama native was a standout performer in Mobile. He later continued increasing his pre-draft stock by running a blazing-fast 4.36 at the NFL Combine.
Pritchett was a three-year starter in the SEC for the Tigers. He compiled 115 tackles, 29 passes defensed, 5.5 tackles for loss, and three interceptions throughout a five-year career. Pritchett also displayed special teams versatility by returning 10 kicks during the 2021 season, averaging 31.3 yards per return.
The Bears are well-stocked at the cornerback position after re-signing Jaylon Johnson to a multi-year extension. Tyrique Stevenson thrived as a rookie, and Kyler Gordon continues to take steps forward in his development as well. You can never have too many cornerbacks though, and Pritchett's competitive experience in the SEC may appeal to Ryan Poles.
Poles is equipped with just four selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. Pritchett is expected to be drafted between rounds four and six. Poles could target Pritchett with the No. 122 overall selection, or via a trade-down.
