The first wave of 2024 NFL free agency is over, and the Chicago Bears haven't been nearly as active as many league analysts and Bears fans assumed.
General manager Ryan Poles is a master of self-control, he doesn't give in to the pressure or temptation of signing big-name free agents at a price that exceeds his valuation. As a result, the Bears enter this next phase of signings with three impact players (RB D'Andre Swift, SAF Kevin Byard, TE Gerald Everett) and a collection of backups and special teams contributors.
Exciting? No. Fiscally responsible? Yes.
Remember: There's a lot of time left for the Chicago Bears to sign potential starters at wide receiver and along the defensive line.
