A Justin Fields trade could be coming sooner than later.

Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer appeared on ESPN 1000's Kap and Hood Friday morning and said the Chicago Bears could strike a deal quickly at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

“I think the bones of the trade will be set next week," Breer said. "There’s some urgency on the Bears part to get something done.”

Breer's intel syncs up with the trending narrative around Fields, who unfollowed the Bears on Instagram before appearing on the St. Brown Brothers podcast this week, where he expressed his desire for the trade drama to be over.

While Fields tried to dismiss his Instagram unfollow as no big deal, the reality is it's sent shockwaves through the Bears universe.

It certainly feels like Justin Fields is a player who knows he's about to be traded. And the NFL Combine is where the parameters of many big deals get ironed out.

The Chicago Bears traded the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft roughly six weeks before the draft kicked off. I expect a faster timeline than that for a Justin Fields trade, considering quarterback-needy teams will want to know where they stand at the game's most important position before free agency starts on March 11 (when the legal tampering window opens).
