Believe it or not, the Chicago Bears are in the hunt for the 2023 playoffs.

No, really, they are.

At 5-8 and winners of two-straight games, the Bears are (basically) one game back in the race for the No. 7 seed in the NFC.

If the 2023 playoffs started today, that seed would belong to the Green Bay Packers, who, after losing to the New York Giants in Week 14, boast a 6-7 record.

Granted, four other teams are also ahead of the Bears with a 6-7 record, and Chicago is one of two teams at 5-8, so there's a lot of untangling that needs to happen over the next few weeks before we can really understand where the Bears' playoff hopes are.

Perhaps tight end Cole Kmet put it best this week when he said the Chicago Bears are already in a playoff mindset. They have to win out, if they lose any of their remaining four games, they won't make the playoffs. It's that simple.

First up in that four-game stretch are the Cleveland Browns, who, at 8-5, currently hold the No. 5 seed in the AFC.

They're a good team, regardless of what you think of quarterback Joe Flacco. He's 38 and generally underwhelming, but with one of the best defenses in the NFL, sometimes an average quarterback is all a team needs to go on a run.

Speaking of good defenses, the Chicago Bears currently have one of the NFL's best, especially regarding takeaways. They lead the league with 11 turnovers in the last three games. Led by defensive end Montez Sweat, the Bears will get after Flacco. There's no doubt about that.

But Myles Garrett will do his part to harass Justin Fields, too. Chicago's pass protection has to hold up so Fields can make more magic with DJ Moore, who's been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL this year.

The playoffs start now for the Chicago Bears. And you don't want to miss it.
