Buckle up, Chicago Bears fans. The sports talking heads are about to rip into the Bears this week for their embarrassing collapse at Ford Field in Week 11 when they surrendered a 12-point lead with just over four minutes left in the game.

The Bears lost to the Detroit Lions, 31-26, in a game many believe could be the final nail in Matt Eberflus' coaching coffin.

I doubt Chicago's higher-ups will fire Eberflus in-season despite Sunday's horrendous meltdown by the coaching staff, the Bears have never made a midseason coaching change. However, the organization must ensure they protect Justin Fields from unnecessary criticism. He did everything he could to will the Bears to victory.

But those talking heads will talk (or yell and scream) this week. Fields will be a target, and it'll be unfair.

Justin Fields finished Week 11 with a 105.2 passer rating after completing 16 of 23 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. He put his incredible athleticism on display, too. He ran for 104 yards ... the most for any player on either team.

The Chicago Bears said this week that they want to see consistency from Fields over his final seven games of the 2023 season. With the 2024 NFL Draft featuring two blue-chip quarterbacks at the top of Round 1 and the Bears trending toward having the first overall pick, GM Ryan Poles must have confidence in his opinion of Fields.

Anyone who watched Sunday's game will say Fields took a massive step toward securing the Bears' long-term quarterback gig.

I always say the most important opinion of how a player is performing is your own. And with that in mind, see for yourself how Justin Fields played against the Lions.

Give us your assessment of his game in the comments section below.
