Micah Parsons says Darnell Wright was a 'great pick' by Bears

Assuming that's true, Chicago Bears fans should be really excited about first-round pick Darnell Wright.

Dallas Cowboys superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons was quick to praise the Bears for selecting Wright in Round 1.

“[This is] a great pick,” Parsons said during Bleacher Report's NFL Draft show. “Like I said, Chicago was on a mission. You did exactly what you had to do. Before the draft, during the draft, you want a guy like this. Justin Fields isn’t just a passer, he’s a runner, too, and Chicago likes to run the ball. So I’m not mad at this pick.

"He’s a great run blocker, he’s a great pass blocker, and if you’re able to shut down a guy like Will Anderson, you’re OK. You’re talking about a team [Houston] who just gave up two firsts to go get a guy [Anderson]. That’s the level of guy he was able to slow down. You can say it was early, but he’s a first-round talent.”

The Chicago Bears were a heavy favorite to select an offensive lineman in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. Northwestern's Peter Skoronski was a hometown choice, while Ohio State's Paris Johnson Jr. was considered the prototype left tackle. But it was Wright who achieved OT1 status inside Halas Hall and who's now charged with protecting Justin Fields for the foreseeable future.

The new-look Bears offensive line will feature Braxton Jones (left tackle), Teven Jenkins (left guard), Cody Whitehair (center), Nate Davis (right guard), and Wright (right tackle.).

Luckily for the rookie, he won't face Micah Parsons and the Cowboys in 2023.
