The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night with the first round. It will feature 31 picks instead of the usual 32. The Miami Dolphins forfeited their first rounder after an NFL investigation last summer.

The Chicago Bears are slated to pick ninth, but that could change as the first round unfolds. GM Ryan Poles may decide to move up if a player like Will Anderson Jr. begins to slide.

The opposite is also true. The Chicago Bears could decide there isn't a must-have prospect on the board at No. 9. Poles will be open for business and more picks.

For now, here's the 2023 NFL Draft first-round order.

Chicago Bears NFL Draft

2023 NFL Draft, Round 1

1) Carolina Panthers (from Chicago)

5) Seattle Seahawks (from Denver)
6) Detroit Lions (from L.A. Rams)
7) Las Vegas Raiders
8) Atlanta Falcons
9) Chicago Bears (from Carolina)
Pere'z's Take: The Bears remain connected to offensive linemen in the first round. Expect Ohio State's Paris Johnson Jr. or Northwestern's Peter Skoronski to be the selection if they slide to No. 9.
10) Philadelphia Eagles (from New Orleans)
11) Tennessee Titans
12) Houston Texans (from Cleveland)
13) Green Bay Packers* (from N.Y. Jets)
14) New England Patriots
15) New York Jets* (from Green Bay)
16) Washington Commanders
17) Pittsburgh Steelers
18) Detroit Lions
19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
20) Seattle Seahawks
21) Los Angeles Chargers
22) Baltimore Ravens
23) Minnesota Vikings
24) Jacksonville Jaguars
25) New York Giants
26) Dallas Cowboys
27) Buffalo Bills
28) Cincinnati Bengals
29) New Orleans Saints (from San Francisco through Miami and Denver)
30) Philadelphia Eagles
31) Kansas City Chiefs

Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft will take place Friday. Rounds 4 thru 7 will be held on Saturday.
