When the Chicago Bears traded down to the No. 9 pick, they did so knowing they would miss out on Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr.

But the Crimson Tide star isn't the only pass-rusher worthy of a top-10 pick.

Texas Tech's Tyree Wilson has steadily risen in 2023 NFL draft rankings throughout the college football season and over the last couple of months.

Wilson suffered a foot injury in November that's kept him out of post-season all-star games and workouts. Regardless, he's projected to be the third defender off the board.

There's a chance that Wilson could even be the first defender picked. Much like how Travon Walker shot up to the No. 1 pick in 2022, Wilson's physical makeup and projected upside as an NFL edge rusher excite teams.

Indeed, Wilson's production doesn't scream elite sack artist. He had 14 sacks over the last two seasons, but if you only scout Tyree Wilson's box score, you're missing the bigger picture. Literally.

In this NFL Draft series here on Bears Talk, you get to form your own opinion on whether a prospect warrants the Bears’ consideration at No. 9 overall (or even later).

Next up: Tyree Wilson
