Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert was activated off of injured reserve on Tuesday, which should clear the way for his return to action in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills.

Herbert has been out with a hip injury he suffered late in the Bears' Week 10 loss to the Detroit Lions. Despite missing time, Herbert has already set career-highs in rushing yards (633) and rushing touchdowns (4). He's been dynamic in 2022 and is in line to be Chicago's starting running back in 2023 if GM Ryan Poles decides against re-signing David Montgomery this offseason.

Khalil Herbert is averaging six yards per carry and was among the NFL's most productive rushers before getting hurt. He's been one of the biggest surprises from the 2021 NFL draft when he was selected in the sixth round out of Virginia Tech.

The Chicago Bears welcome the Buffalo Bills to Soldier Fields on Dec. 24. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. CST.
