NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore has requested a trade after missing practice with what was called as a personal day.
The 2021 second-round pick is coming off of a catch-less game during the team's victory over the Green Bay Packers last weekend.
Moore enters the wide receiver trade market despite the Jets stating they aren't shopping him. For the Chicago Bears, it presents yet another name that the team could look to acquire in their offensive rebuild.
Moore played college ball at Ole Miss, where he had 189 career receptions for 2441 yards and 16 touchdowns. Considered by many during the NFL Draft as a first-round player, Moore fell into the early second. He appeared in 11 games for the Jets his rookie year, catching 43 of his 77 total targets for 538 yards and five touchdowns.
The second-year receiver has seen his targets drop significantly so far this year. He may be making this request to simple see more opportunities. It's also hard to gauge what the Jets would want in return for any potential trade offer. The Bears have been reported to be shopping defensive end Robert Quinn, who could be a good addition to a solid Jets defense.
General manager Ryan Poles isn't afraid to trade for talent, which he displayed when he acquired WR N'Keal Harry from the New England Patriots. If Moore is truly available, the Bears shouldn't hesitate to reach out and make an offer.
