Chicago Bears Land Surprising Spot in 2026 NFL Draft Power Rankings

The Chicago Bears land in an unexpected spot in a new draft ranking, revealing what really matters for their 2026 outlook.

The Chicago Bears landed at No. 22 in a new NFL Draft power ranking from CBS Sports, and if you’re expecting outrage, you’re probably going to be disappointed.

Because this ranking actually says more about where the Bears are as a team than it does about what they lack.

In other words, the lower the ranking, the better.

Why the Bears Landed at No. 22

CBS Sports built this ranking on three pillars: draft capital, front-office aggressiveness, and roster urgency.

The Bears check at least one of those boxes in a big way.

Ryan Poles has been one of the more aggressive and calculated team builders in the NFL over the last few years. You don’t pull off a franchise-altering trade like the 2023 deal with Carolina, land a player like Montez Sweat, and reshape an offense around Caleb Williams without having a clear vision.

That part of the ranking makes sense. But where the Bears fall short (at least in this formula) is urgency.

And honestly, that’s a good thing.

The Bears Aren't Desperate Anymore

For years, the Bears entered the NFL draft in desperation mode.

They needed everything. Quarterback. Offensive line. Pass rush. Playmakers. Leadership. Identity.

That’s not the case anymore.

Chicago is coming off a 2025 season in which it advanced deep into the playoffs and showed it can compete with anyone in the NFC. This isn’t a teardown or a rebuild. It’s a refinement phase.

Yes, there are holes on this team.

Edge rusher still needs a long-term answer opposite Sweat. The secondary has new faces and unanswered questions. The offensive line could use a cornerstone at left tackle.

But those are targeted needs, not systemic problems.

The Bears' 2026 Draft Capital Is Strong

The Chicago Bears also enter the 2026 NFL Draft with solid ammunition. They have seven total picks, with three inside the top 60.

In other words, Ryan Poles has options. He can stay put and stack talent, or he can package picks to move up for a player he believes changes the trajectory of the defense.

And based on his track record, nothing should be ruled out.

The Real Takeaway from the Chicago Bears' Ranking

A No. 22 ranking might feel underwhelming on the surface. But, it shouldn’t.

This isn’t about where the Bears rank compared to rebuilding teams with massive urgency or contenders with elite draft capital. It’s about context.

And Chicago doesn’t need to win the draft. The Bears just need to hit on a couple of starters in the early rounds.

The Bears’ Bottom Line

For the first time in what feels like forever, the Chicago Bears are chasing championship aspirations in 2026. It's why they pick so late in the first round; they nearly won the NFC crown in 2025.

And that changes everything about how you approach the NFL Draft.

If Ryan Poles nails this class the way he has the last two, the Bears will be an NFC favorite by the time January rolls around.

And that's all that matters.
