Chicago Bears Mock Draft Adds New First-Round Name at Edge Rusher

A new NFL.com mock draft introduces a surprising edge rusher as a potential first-round target for the Chicago Bears in 2026.

The Chicago Bears may have a new name to watch in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

In NFL.com’s latest mock draft, analyst Rhett Lewis connects Chicago to Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker.

It is not the most popular mock-draft projection. But it might be one of the more interesting ones.

A New Edge Rusher Enters the Bears' First-Round Conversation

T.J. Parker is not drawing the same attention as some of the top pass rushers in this class, especially after a quieter 2025 season. Still, Rhett Lewis points to something evaluators value just as much as production.

Flashes.

“Parker had a down year in terms of production in 2025, but the lengthy Clemson edge rusher showed flashes of brilliance early in his collegiate career and again at the Senior Bowl,” Lewis wrote.

That carries weight in draft rooms.

Teams will bet on traits and upside, especially at premium positions like edge rusher, where development can unlock high-end impact.

Why T.J. Parker Makes Sense for Chicago

The Bears still need a true complement opposite Montez Sweat, and that need has been a constant theme all offseason.

Chicago added depth along the defensive line, but it still lacks a dependable second pass rusher who can consistently win one-on-one matchups.

T.J. Parker fits that profile.

He offers length, athleticism, and long-term upside, which align with what Dennis Allen has historically targeted in edge defenders.

If he develops the way teams hope, the payoff could be significant.

The Risk in T.J. Parker as a First-Round Pick

There is a reason T.J. Parker is not viewed as a consensus top-tier prospect.

Production still matters.

A down 2025 season raises valid questions about his consistency, his ability to finish plays, and what his true ceiling looks like at the next level.

That is why some evaluators see him as more of a Day 2 value than a first-round lock. If the Bears take him at No. 25, they are betting on traits and upside.

Sometimes those bets turn into home runs.

Other times, they're whiffs.

The Bears' Bottom Line

This type of mock draft shows how teams actually think, not just what fans want to see.

The Bears clearly need an edge rusher. The real question is how they weigh upside against production when they are on the clock.

If Ryan Poles and his staff believe T.J. Parker’s flashes will translate, this pick could look questionable on draft night and brilliant a year later.

Or it could go the other way.

That is the reality of drafting late in the first round, where teams often have to bet on traits and development rather than polished, proven production.
