Chicago Bears’ Tremaine Edmunds Drawing Strong Trade Interest
Tremaine Edmunds is drawing trade interest after the Chicago Bears granted him permission to seek a deal, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler.
The Chicago Bears' granting Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade became one of the more notable developments at the 2026 NFL Combine. Now, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reports there is legitimate league-wide interest in acquiring him.
"One player who has strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt is Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds," Fowler wrote. "The Titans, Raiders, and Giants are among teams interested in high-end linebackers, and they like Edmunds, who's only 27 despite eight years in the league. He was granted permission to seek a trade earlier this week."
Traction toward an Edmunds trade is building.
Why Teams Are Showing Interest in Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds
Edmunds remains one of the league’s most athletic off-ball linebackers. In 2025, he continued to deliver strong production for Chicago, pairing high tackle totals with coverage range and impact plays on the ball.
At 27, he’s still in his physical prime despite already logging eight NFL seasons. For linebacker-needy teams like the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants, he represents a plug-and-play starter rather than a developmental gamble.
Edmunds finished the 2025 season with 112 tackles and four interceptions in 13 games.
Edmunds isn't a player on the wrong side of 30 or whose best football is behind him. He's capable of leading and producing at a high level for a long time.
Tremaine Edmunds' Salary Cap Figure Looms Large for Bears
Per Spotrac, Edmunds carries a 2026 cap hit north of $17 million, the eighth-highest on the team.
Moving him via trade would clear the majority of that figure from Chicago’s 2026 cap sheet, creating meaningful flexibility as general manager Ryan Poles formulates his free agency plan.

A release would also create savings, but Edmunds is a very real asset. There's no reason to lose him for nothing. If he can land a mid-round pick for the Chicago Bears, then a trade is a no-brainer.
And if multiple teams are interested, the Bears gain leverage.
What An Edmunds Trade Means for the Bears’ 2026 Offseason
This story is no longer about whether Edmunds can be traded. It’s about whether the market reaches a level that justifies it.
The Bears are building around Caleb Williams’ rookie-contract window, which could ultimately close next year this time. Every roster decision is filtered through that long-term team-building balance.
Fowler’s report suggests the Bears will have a healthy trade market for Tremaine Edmunds. At this point, it feels like a foregone conclusion that he'll be donning a new uniform in 2026.
