3 Tremaine Edmunds Trades That Could Make Sense for the Chicago Bears

The Bears let Tremaine Edmunds seek a trade. Here are three realistic partners, with 2026 cap space and draft picks that match the deal.

The Chicago Bears have not traded Tremaine Edmunds yet, but they’ve made the first move toward that possibility.

Brad Biggs reported that the Bears granted Edmunds permission to seek a trade. Edmunds is under contract for 2026 and has a $15 million salary cap hit.

If Ryan Poles seriously explores deals, three teams jump out as potential trade partners because they have cap room and workable draft capital.

Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas can absorb Edmunds’ 2026 money without blinking. Over The Cap lists the Raiders at $91.5 million in 2026 cap space, giving them more than enough room to entertain a trade.

The Raiders also own a deep 2026 pick stash, including multiple Day 3 selections and compensatory picks.

The Raiders need a true three-down linebacker who can wear the green dot and stabilize the middle. Edmunds brings size, range, and coverage ability that fit a defense trying to find an identity.

Realistic deal: Raiders send 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 102) and 2026 sixth-round pick (No. 184) to Chicago for Edmunds.

Washington Commanders

Washington has the financial flexibility to take on Edmunds without forcing restructures. Over The Cap lists the Commanders at $73.7 million in cap space for 2026.

Draft-wise, Washington’s current 2026 inventory is lighter, but it still includes premium capital.

Washington has speed at linebacker but lacks a proven, every-down tone-setter in the middle. Edmunds would immediately upgrade their run fits and improve their ability to handle crossing routes and seam concepts.

Realistic deal: Commanders send 2026 third-round pick (No. 71) plus a 2026 seventh-round pick (No. 224) for Edmunds and a late Chicago pick swap.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle can afford the contract. Over The Cap lists the Seahawks at $61.9 million in cap space for 2026.

The issue is picks. The Seahawks currently hold only four selections in 2026, so it would take some creativity to get a deal done.

Seattle's defense is already pretty awesome. Imagine adding Edmunds for a third-round pick? Scary.

Realistic deal: Seahawks send 2026 third-round pick (No. 96) and a future conditional Day 3 pick that upgrades if Edmunds hits playing-time triggers.

For any deal to work, it must involve a team with salary-cap space to absorb Edmunds' contract. And, remember: Edmunds isn't an over-the-hill veteran who can only help a team for a season or two.

Whoever trades for him will get a fiery linebacker who's capable of leading a defense.

The Bears can convert Edmunds into picks, clear money, and reshape the front seven. It's up to Poles to find the right dance partner.
