Following a standout 2025 season, Chicago Bears CB Nahshon Wright just addressed his 2026 free agency plans.

Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright didn’t dodge the question when he was asked on SiriusXM NFL radio about his 2026 free agency priorities.

As the Bears move deeper into the 2026 offseason, the breakout cornerback made it clear he would welcome a return.

“I think it’s a little bit of both,” Wright said. “Obviously, you want to be taken care of financially, but there’s the part where you still want to be able to compete on a high level. I think for me, honestly, I like to play in more of an aggressive style of football. I haven’t done any deep dives into what teams kinda play similar to what we did in Chicago, but obviously, I had a great season in Chicago due to the way we played. I'd love to be back in Chicago, but I don’t necessarily know exactly what’s gonna happen.”

Nahshon Wright was a breakout star for the Chicago Bears

Wright’s comments come after a 2025 season in which the Bears’ defense featured one of the more productive secondaries in the NFC. As a whole, Chicago's defense forced 33 turnovers, including 23 interceptions.

Nahshon Wright had five of them.

Scheme fit matters at cornerback. Wright thrived in the environment Dennis Allen created, showing comfort in tight coverage and competing downfield. For a player whose career was at a crossroads before signing with Chicago, Wright certainly won't take the scheme fit for granted.

The financial side of the equation will ultimately dictate his future, however. The Bears must make multiple contract decisions on defense this offseason, and Ryan Poles has consistently demonstrated discipline in salary cap management.

But the Bears shouldn’t dismiss Wright’s public desire to return. Continuity in the secondary matters, especially for a team that won the NFC North and is trying to sustain momentum.

For now, Wright has said what he can say. He wants to be back. But with a projected average annual salary of $16.7 million, the Chicago Bears must decide whether they’re willing to pay that price.
