The Chicago Bears defense took the ball away more than any other team in the NFL in 2025, and All-Pro safety Kevin Byard was a big reason why.
Byard led the league in interceptions, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. In a contract year, Byard is still playing an at elite level as he heads to free agency.
Speaking to Josina Anderson from this year's Pro Bowl Games, Byard discussed his incredible 2025 campaign, as well as a potential return to the Bears in 2026:
Originally a third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans out of Middle Tennessee State in 2016, Byard didn't waste any time becoming one of the best safeties in the league. After a short stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, Byard signed with the Bears in 2024. Even at 32 years old, he continues to prove he's one of the best in the game.
Keeping Byard will be even more important to the Bears if they lost their other starting safety Jaquan Brisker, who is also headed for free agency.
We'll see what happens next month.
