So much for Colston Loveland's 'quiet' rookie season

After a slow start, Chicago Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland has become a vital and productive part of the passing game.

As a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, tight end Colston Loveland was expected to have a big impact right away for the Chicago Bears.

But through the first six games of his rookie season, the former Michigan star managed just 11 receptions for 116 yards and zero touchdowns.

It didn't take long for the haters to claim that Loveland was going to be a bust. Many wondered why the Bears spent such a high pick on a tight end who wasn't making big plays downfield right away, and all the time.

Fast forward to the present day, and Loveland is making all those doubters look ridiculous.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Loveland's production has grown by leaps and bounds:

The Bears have plenty of mouths to feed in the passing game, so Loveland's low numbers out of the gate never should have been cause for concern. His level of talent was never the issue, and now that he's gotten more opportunities as the year has moved along, it's clear what he's capable of bringing to the table.

Maybe this development will give those who doubted him more patience in the future when a rookie takes a few weeks to get going. In any event, Loveland is clearly a huge piece of the present and future for the Chicago offense.
