Studs and duds from Chicago Bears' crushing Week 14 loss to Packers

The Chicago Bears lost a heartbreaking game to the Green Bay Packers in Week 14. Here's who stood out as a stud, and who struggled as a dud.

So much for the Chicago Bears winning two games in a row at Lambeau Field.

After ending the 2024 season with a win in Titletown, the Bears traveled to Green Bay in Week 14 for the first of two showdowns with the Packers. It was a thrilling game that ended in the Bears going home losers, 28-21.

Unlike years past, when the Packers would blow the doors off the Bears, this game introduced a new era in the NFL's longest-running rivalry. If it wasn't for a frustratingly slow start in the first half -- the Bears only scored three points and totaled roughly 70 yards of offense -- this game may have ended much differently.

Chicago can prove they're a better team in two weeks when they welcome the Packers to Soldier Field in Week 16.

Until then, here are the studs and duds from the Bears' Week 14 loss.

NEXT: STUD

STUD: Caleb Williams

Forget the box score. Forget the first half. You can even forget some of Caleb Williams' misfires against the Packers.

What should be remembered most from this game by Bears fans is this: Williams kept Chicago in the game by playing the role of Superman behind an offensive line that struggled for four quarters against the Packers' pass rush.

Williams' escapes were dazzling. Some of his throws were, too. And, sure, his end-of-game interception thwarted the Bears' comeback attempt, but let's be honest: Chicago wouldn't have been in position to tie the game if it wasn't for No. 18.

Williams finished the game 19-of-35 for 186 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

DUD: Kevin Byard

Byard has been an absolute superstar all season, but he struggled against the Packers' speedy receivers in Week 14. He was a big reason why Christian Watson went off for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

There's no doubt that Byard is one of the best safeties in the NFC this year. There's also no doubt that Sunday wasn't his best day.

STUD: D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai

It's easy to cheer for the Bruise Brothers, Swift and Monangai. They combined for 120 rushing yards against a Packers' run defense that's one of the best in the NFL.

Ben Johnson's decision not to run either Swift or Monangai on fourth-and-1 will be a big question he'll face in the coming days; both runners were powering through would-be tacklers throughout the second half.

DUD: DJ Moore

Rome Odunze missed Sunday's game against the Packers with a foot injury. As a result, Moore was expected to step up as the WR1 and prove he still has the juice to justify his four-year, $110 million contract.

He didn't.

Moore was invisible throughout the game. He had one catch for -4 yards. He was that bad.

STUD: Luther Burden III

On the other end of the wide receiver spectrum was rookie Luther Burden, who led the Bears with four catches for 67 yards. It was an impressive showing for the first-year player who, until Week 14, had been nothing more than a rotational piece of the offense.

It's impossible to ignore the playmaking upside that Burden brings to the passing game. He runs crisp routes, generates great separation, and is a demon after the catch.

His role will only continue to grow in the coming weeks.

DUD: Bears' offensive line

There was no bigger disappointment in Week 14 than the Bears' offensive line. Caleb Williams faced relentless pressure from the opening series until the final interception.

A deeper dive into the All-22 is needed to see exactly who was the biggest culprit on Sunday, but it's pretty safe to say the entire group was downright terrible in pass protection.

Sure, the starting five was solid in the run game again, but they had Williams running for his life at Lambeau Field.
