Bears sign GM Ryan Poles to 5-year contract extension

The Chicago Bears and GM Ryan Poles will be tied together for the foreseeable future after inking the general manager to a long-term extension.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles hasn't overseen many wins during his tenure as GM in Chicago, but he's done enough to earn the trust and confidence of the organization to continue leading the team for the next five seasons.

Poles and the Bears agreed to a five-year contract extension on Friday, according to EPSN NFL insider, Adam Schefter.

His contract now lines up with coach Ben Johnson. Both key decision makers will be in Chicago through 2029.

The Chicago Bears are 15-36 with Poles as general manager, a record that would get most GMs fired. But the rehab project Poles has been able to put together has been somewhat remarkable, considering he landed Caleb Williams (through a trade one year earlier) and Ben Johnson in back-to-back offseasons.

The future is bright for the Bears, especially now that the general manager, head coach, and starting quarterback are aligned for many years to come.
