Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested over the Fourth of July weekend on misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Turpin, 28, signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Cowboys in March after enjoying the best season of his career in 2024. He ended the year with 31 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns.
Widely recognized as one of the NFL’s premier return specialists, Turpin earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2024 after leading the league with 904 return yards. His rise from the USFL to NFL prominence has been remarkable, but now, his future could hang in the balance.
The NFL is expected to investigate the situation, and Turpin will likely face increased scrutiny under the league’s drug testing policy.
As with anyone, Turpin is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
