No NFL player is perfect. They all need to hone their craft in the offseason. This is especially true for young quarterbacks, who usually experience a "welcome to the NFL" reality check in their rookie year.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is no different. He's far from the finished pro quarterback that he'll ultimately become, and in order to reach the elite upside his pre-draft scouting report outlined, he must go back to the lab this offseason and get rid of some warts.
Williams knows it, too, and he already has a list of things he plans to work on once the 2024 season concludes.
"I would say all from pre-snap stuff to even post-snap, whether it's footwork, whether it's pre-snap and recognizing what they're in, if they rotate to here, how fast can I get to this, how fast can I get to that route, this alert, that alert," he said. "So, I got a good amount of stuff that I'm planning on going over."
Williams has completed 61.9% of his passes for 2,937 yards, 17 TDs, and 5 INTs through 14 games this season. He's on pace to throw for the fifth-most single-season yards in franchise history, and there's a chance he could end the year with a top-three total if he has a big game or two out the door. If he throws five or more touchdowns over the final three games, he'll rank in the top 10 (or higher) in single-season touchdown passes.
And just think: the best is yet to come for Caleb Williams.
