The Chicago Bears welcomed a new franchise quarterback this offseason in No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, but in order to clear a path for him, they first had to move on from their current starter in Justin Fields.
A recent first-round pick himself, Fields was shipped to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the offseason for little more than a Big Beef at Portillo's, ending a three-year run that was marked by inconsistency, a struggling supporting cast, and frustration across the board.
Bears star cornerback Jaylon Johnson recently spoke with Rich Eisen about Fields' departure from Chicago, as well as how the defense improved over the second half of last season:
While Fields battles it out with Russell Wilson for the starting job in Pittsburgh this year, Johnson and the Bears will be full speed ahead with Williams, as they hope to give him a better chance to reach his potential than they did with the quarterback he replaced.
