The Chicago Bears made some seismic moves this offseason as they transformed their roster in hopes of finally returning to playoff contention.

But what was the best move they made so far this year?

ESPN recently graded every team's offseason, and in giving the Bears a strong B+ overall grade, Seth Walder was a particularly big fan of Chicago locking up cornerback Jaylon Johnson with a new long-term contract extension.

"The Bears signed franchise-tagged cornerback Johnson to a deal of $19 million per year with almost $44 million fully guaranteed -- a substantial guarantee but quite reasonable in terms of APY," Walder wrote.

After trading for a stud pass rusher in Montez Sweat last year, and also extending him for big money, the Bears continued to invest in their best defensive players with Johnson's new deal. That's a huge vote of confidence from management that this roster is on track, and can be competitive with the other additions they made on the other side of the ball this offseason.
