It goes without saying that No. 1 overall quarterback Caleb Williams was the top-ranked player on the Chicago Bears' 2024 NFL draft board. General manager Ryan Poles then selected former Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with the ninth pick. The vision sees Odunze and Williams developing in tandem to form a haunting QB-WR duo.

The Bears recently released the latest installment of 1920 Football Drive, a video series that offers fans a behind-the-curtain look at the team's dealings throughout the offseason. The newest episode particularly focuses on the 2024 NFL Draft. After selecting Odunze at No. 9 overall, assistant general manager Ian Cunningham can be heard saying “number one and number two player, though' while embracing Poles.

Cunningham seemingly indicates that Odunze was No. 2 behind just Williams on the Bears' draft board. Odunze is expected to help form one of the league's most exciting trios of wide receivers alongside D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen this season. At Washington in 2023, he totaled an FBS-leading 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Odunze suffered a minor setback during his debut rookie minicamp practice. He's been physically absent ever since, missing the first string of organized team activity (OTAS) practices. Indications are that Odunze will return to practice next week. The Bears are excited to get Williams and Odunze back on the field together.
