Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore had a career day in Week 5's victory over the Washington Commanders. He totaled eight catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns and spearheaded the Bears' first victory of the season.
He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Moore is the first Chicago Bears receiver to earn the award since Marcus Robinson in 1999.
The Bears acquired DJ Moore in an offseason trade that sent the Carolina Panthers the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL draft for Moore and a haul of draft selections. GM Ryan Poles said Moore was the key cog in the trade, and through five games this season, he's proving to be the superstar the Bears' passing game needed.
Moore has 27 catches for 530 yards and five touchdowns, a stat line that puts him on pace for 92 catches, 1,805 yards, and 17 touchdowns. His projected yards and touchdown totals would shatter the Chicago Bears' single-season receiving records.
Call it a hunch, but I don't think this will be the last time Moore is in the mix to be the NFC's offensive player of the week this season.
