Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was outstanding as a rookie throughout the 2023 season. A workhorse in Matt Eberflus' defense, Stevenson recorded a position-high 86 tackles, and team-leading four interceptions (tied with Jaylon Johnson and Tremaine Edmunds).
Every day, it feels like a new Stevenson metric is released that captures just how excellent his 2023 rookie campaign was. Pro Football Focus recently released an article that highlighted different tight coverage percentage marks. According to their charting, Stevenson finished fourth among all qualifying cornerbacks, having played tight coverage on 31.8% of his opportunities.

As seen above, Stevenson finished fourth behind just Darius Slay (35%), Ahkello Witherspoon (32.6%), and Martin Emerson Jr. (32.2%). Pro Football Focus credited Stevenson with allowing 72 receptions on 110 targets. Opposing quarterbacks saw a passer rating of 100.4 when targeting him in coverage.
Wide receivers on the Bears' schedule should be prepared for Stevenson to play extremely tight coverage on them throughout the impending 2024 season.
